Public data first. Yours when you need it.
These are the public sources we use today. Each one is licensed for commercial use with attribution, and we read the licence before using any source.

Other data, on request
We can work in data you hold, or data you license from a provider, under your licence. Before we start, we tell you what that licence allows, and anything that cannot be shared stays inside your work.
What we may not use yet
Two NSW datasets would answer the questions we are asked most, and their licences do not allow us to use them in paid work:
- Valuer General bulk property sales — every NSW sale since 1990, licensed CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, which is a non-commercial licence: no commercial use and no derived works. We asked the Valuer General on 23 September 2026 whether we may publish statistics derived from it, and it answered on 24 September 2026: non-commercial analysis is permitted, and commercial use requires a paid licence, which we do not hold. Its licensing is under review.
- NSW rental bond lodgements — what tenants actually pay, published where automated access is disallowed. We do not take it.
So nothing we sell today rests on what homes sold for or rent for. When that changes, this page changes with it.
How we use it
- Every figure we publish names its source and the date it was taken.
- We only publish figures from sources whose licence allows it.
- When a provider changes its licence, we review it before using that source again.
